Well done Alan !

TOPS member Alan Charlton is on a trip of a lifetime when he plans to sail single handed from the UK to the Azores in the Jester Azores Challenge 2008 .

This is  for single-handed boats between 20-30 feet, and started on 31 May 2008.

The destination in the Azores is  Praia da Vitoria, Terceira- a journey of about 1200 miles

Alan's boat is named Pipedream and is a 26ft Westerly seen here moored up just before the start of the race

Heading out to the start line at Plymouth on Sunday May 31st.

Ready for the 'off'

Each day there has been a report from Alan via satellite of his current position which I have plotted on a Google Earth map seen here.

At 8am this morning a Alan safely arrived at his destination of Terceira Island in the Azores.

Many congratulations Alan on a brilliant result.
