TOPS Celebrates its
80th Birthday
Back in 1927 when the organist at St Mary's
Church in Twickenham founded the Twickenham Amateur Operatic
Society little did he think that the society - now known
locally as the Twickenham Operatic Society (TOPS), would be
preparing a spectacular production of 'HELLO DOLLY!' to be
presented at the historic Richmond Theatre in Surrey.
TOPS is now one of the leading operatic
societies in the south of England still performing in a
large professional theatre - no mean feat as the cost of
putting on a 'full blown' musical production seems to rise
by the minute! The Company of 60 singers and dancers
accompanied by a full orchestra are eagerly looking forward
to bringing 'DOLLY' to Richmond and are looking forward to the
next 80 years! |
